Stepping In vs. Stepping Back: How to Intentionally Develop Your People
Every shift is a mission. When the line is long, the team is young, and the pressure is real, great leaders know when to step in—and when to step back. Step in too much and you slow your people down. Step back too soon and standards slip. Many leaders and managers step in too often, not because they lack skill, but because the responsibility feels heavy and the stakes are real.
In this webinar, you’ll learn how to recognize what’s driving your leadership instincts and how to step in with purpose instead of impulse. You’ll gain practical tools to build trust, develop stronger crews, and lead with confidence rather than control. The result is a workplace that runs smoothly, with a team that performs because they’re ready—not because you’re watching.
Attendees will participate in a 45-minute discussion on Stepping In vs Stepping Back
This webinar will take the lessons from Will & Skill and bring them to life as we explore the dilemma of when to intervene and when to let the team work through the issues. We will look at the "Rescuer" and the fear that drives micro-managing or even worse, taking over. We will contrast that style with the "Abdicator" and the lassie-faire style that lead teams to struggle and standards to crumble.
The thing that makes our presentations powerful...you will walk away with usable tools to help yourself and your team make immediate changes in how you lead and develop others.
In addition, attendees will participate in a 45 minute breakout with one of our Elite Facilitators where they will interact with peers from around the country to discuss:
The Hero Trap
“It’s faster if I just do it.”
Short-term efficiency, long-term dependency
The Anxiety Takeover
Stepping in to manage their own discomfort with ambiguity
The Invisible Standard
Taking over because the work isn’t done to thier standard
The Promotion Hangover
Taking over because the work isn’t done their way
Still operating like a high-performing individual contributor
